Sustainable Design 2 – Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan had a great idea of what to do with plastic bottle caps. Actually, with 400,000 of them! This is the average number that are consumed every minute of every day in the United States. He decided to recreate the Masterpiece of Seurat with these caps. The piece is called “Caps Seurat, 2011″ it sized is 60×90″ in one panel, and 88×132″ in 3 panels
The artist said “This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs. Employing themes such as the near versus the far, and the one versus the many, I hope to raise some questions about the roles and responsibilities we each play as individuals in a collective that is increasingly enormous, incomprehensible, and overwhelming.”
