I recently started to work with paper to make sculptures. It is a very noble material and I really like the results.
There are a lot of artists as well out there, very talented ones that use the same material for their sculptures.
Recently, Chronicle Books edited a really nice book called “Paper Cutting”.
Here are just a few examples:
This extraordinary American artist makes installations with just paper. It seems like waves that come out from the wall and are tying to climb into the space of the room. The feeling is extraordinary and the installations are visually impressive.
The intricate and delicate pieces of this Japanese artist are an example of a very patient person. The words are wonderful and are combined with lovely images in black paper.
My favourite, I love what she does. This Cuban artist creates this a surreal world of fantasies and women with strange heads, all in paper. The amount of work and intricate cutting is impressive. She inspires me.
